Webmaster, how an email list actually works is that you reply to the person
sending it to you if you press reply
OR to everyone in the list if you press reply to all

I should not get 16 emails over the weekend just to have others ask to be
deleted from thie list.

I asked for and paid for an email subscription to the newsletter and that
is all I want - not all this madness I have been getting. Please stop it.
Please remove me from this list. Hi gang! I'm glad to hear everything is working out so well on the NEW
DBDC mailing list. I was afraid that no one would notice!

1. Anytime someone asks to be removed from the list, by sending an email to
the list, everyone will get it. Thats what an email list does. If you
want to be removed from the list you have many options. More on this
later.

2. The 'From:', 'To:', and 'Reply:' fields of the emails from the list are
all masked on purpose. This is to protect your privacy and slow down the
never ending torrent of spam. Somehow this list hasn't been accused of
being yet another addition to the spam, and for that I'm grateful to you
all.

3. As a result of the second point, if you want to be identified in any
email you post, then you have to do that in your email like Ann and Dave
did. So for instance, anyone who sent 'pls remove me from the list' had
there wishes unanswered, 'cause I didn't know who they were.

4. So the first way to be removed from the list is you can use the link at
the bottom of *ALL* the list emails:
http://daytonballroom.org/mailman/listinfo/dbdcmembers_daytonballroom.org

From there you can add or delete any email address from the list. You will
get a confirmation email to insure the address is yours and that it is
correct. When you respond to the confirmation, you have succeeded. This
is the preferred method!

5. Or you can just tell me at the next opportunity, if you don't know me, I
wear a name tag at the Mon night lessons that says "Matt Morrisey -
Webmaster - Membership"

6. Or you can be removed from the list by sending an email to the list with
your name in the email. That way I can cross reference to your email
address and once again the evil demons of spam can be stopped. I hope.

7. Also, at the same link at the bottom of *ALL* the list emails:
http://daytonballroom.org/mailman/listinfo/dbdcmembers_daytonballroom.org
I would very much advise that all of you use that link to add a password to
the email address you have provided. Just another level of security that
we all can do for ourselves.

8. If you have read this far, you have one more way to to
unsubscribe/complain/vent: Call Skip! No, I'm just kidding! Call me:
937-260-6136. You will probably have to leave a message 'cause i sleep 8
hrs, work in the basement 9 hours (no-to-bad cell coverage), and the rest
of the time i'm figuring out ways to dance more often.

Thanks for your patience while DBDC moves into the 21st century. I hope
this list will provide a valuable service to all the members of the club.
Besides the 'Cancellation' notices and the newsletter, i think that the
list can be used to help keep everyone informed about the club: upcoming
dances and events, sales on shoes, competitions, health and welfare of
members, and of course, wildly enthusiastic praise of the job that your
fellow members do to keep the club alive and vibrant.
(as he cups his hand to his ear).

Keep dancing!

Matt Morrisey
